W8B - Raptor and Waterfowl Spring Migration Special Event

May 2, 3, 4 2008
Paradise Michigan - Whitefish Point - Chippewa County
A joint project between Lake Effect and Eastern UP ARC

Coordinated with Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, operated by the Michigan Audubon Society.

The spring migration at Whitefish Point is spectacular.  Thousands of migratory birds congregate there mid-April thru Mid-May.  Strong fliers cross to Canada from this point.  Other birds rest, continue east around Whitefish Bay, and cross into Canada at the Soo.  They do not heed customs rules, or so I understand.  Many hundreds of avid birders visit the Point during the migration season and the annual Spring Fling is big on the world-wide birder social calendar.

W8B will be operating from the grounds of the Whitefish Point Bird Observatory and Paradise to provide separation between antennas.
